Gigantic lobster claw found at flea market

Andre Nadeau, a marine biologist with DFO, displays a giant lobster claw found at a Moncton flea market earlier this month.

Most visitors at a Moncton flea market apparently thought a giant lobster claw was made of plastic because almost no one even bothered to pick the shell up to look at it.
Even the vendor, who bought the item from another flea market, didn’t know it was real, said Webster.
She said the impressive crusher claw weighs 2.3 pounds and measures 14.5 by 8.5 inches. The cartilage is still inside and intact.

This lobster would not have been caught in a trap because it would have been too big to fit inside.
The claw might have been caught up in an anchor or other rigging, or it may have just washed up on shore.
Nadeau intends to have the claw mounted to preserve it.
“It was eight bucks well-spent,” he said. LINK

Oh my gosh! That is awesome! And to think I skipped the flea market - I would have fought the guy over that!

How far from this particular flea market were you?

I Love sea food, I could live on it. I go fishing every chance I get.
