Trojan House - Melbourne

From the street, this Edwardian house might seem unassuming, undeserving of a second glance. From the back, however, the addition to the Trojan House by Jackson Clements Burrows, where three children’s bedrooms are cantilevered above a large living space, is anything but ordinary.
The entire addition is wrapped in a seamless wooden skin that conceals any obvious openings. Windows, covered by shutters that follow the pattern of the façade, reveal nothing of the interior space. LINK

The Seasonal Transformer House

A man in the UK has designed and built a house that can go from greenhouse to styling walled home with the push of a button. A brilliant and beautiful piece of design.
The 20 ton mobile roof and wall enclosure is moved using four electric motors powered only by standard car batteries. It measures 52ft long, 20ft wide and 23ft high.
'In the winter we will have the roof pulled over to keep up warm,' Mr Russell, 48, said.

Heavy Metal Urban Art: Matthew Small

Matthew Small’s work has strong urban roots. By painting directly onto found pieces of metal, he brings physical elements of the city directly into his work. The subjects of his portraits are also found anonymously on the streets of London. Executed with astonishingly textured brushstrokes, Matt's pieces feel both abstract and incredibly real and vital. Timelapse Garden Video Camera

The Timelapse Garden Video Camera (henceforth TGVC) is a weatherproof digital camera that'll take interval photos and combine them into a neat 1280x1024 video file presumably via some custom software. It comes with a removable 2GB of storage and the battery will last for up to 4 months while taking a picture per hour. It costs $159.99, which is awfully cheap considering you'll pay about the same for a half-decent point-and-shoot that'll explode upon the first morning dew. The Dunk That Made History

On Dec. 21, 1984, a small crowd in Elkins, W.Va., filtered into the town armory to watch a women's basketball game between powerhouse West Virginia and the tiny University of Charleston.
The roughly 100 people in the bleachers witnessed history.
The game was also remarkable for another reason: No visual evidence of the play was ever released. Newspaper articles ran without photos and TV stations covered it without any visuals. Some people didn't believe it happened. Reporters "would say 'you don't have proof, you don't have proof,' " Ms. Wells says.
But there was a tape. Bud Francis, the coach of the opposing team, Charleston, had a man stationed near the stage on the east side of the armory, and his camera lens was pointed directly at Ms. Wells during the dunk. Despite repeated requests from media and West Virginia University, Mr. Francis never turned the tape over. Ms. Wells's coach, Kittie Blakemore, says she assumed the recording had been destroyed. The coach died in 1999 and the secret of the lost tape seemingly went with him to the grave.
Earlier this year, Mr. Francis's son, Ford, looked in an old box of his father's. In it, he found a nondescript video cassette, labeled "W.V.U.-84 Elkins." It was the tape of the dunk. The picture has deteriorated slightly, but what can clearly be seen is Georgeann Wells, leaping through the air and slamming the ball with authority.

Longest Underground Aquifer in the World Discovered

Roman engineers spent a century digging an underground aqueduct through 66 miles of stone in order to bring water to Syria. The previous longest underground water aqueduct was in Bologna; it was only 12 miles long.
The soldiers chiseled over 600,000 cubic meters of stone from the ground -- or the equivalent of one-quarter of the Great Pyramid of Cheops.
"Over the first 60 kilometers, the tunnel has a gradient of 0.3 per thousand," explains the project director. That works out to 30 centimeters per kilometer -- an astonishingly shallow angle of descent. LINK

Jade tooth decorations in Mayan skull

At the height of Mayan civilization, body modification included a variety of alterations of the teeth. Teeth were sharpened to points, or into the letter "T" to represent the wind-glyph, and green jade was inlaid to "purify breath or express elegant speech." Other minerals inserted into teeth included iron pyrites, hematite, turquoise, quartz, serpentine, and cinnabar.
Holes in the teeth were created by spinning a drill with a bow (as in firestarting), and using powdered quartz as an abrasive. Modified dentition was always in the visible parts of the mouth for display; there is no evidence of restorative dental work for functional purposes. LINK

Stunning Examples Of Reflective Photography
"Kern.Justin"
Using reflections in photography can lead to some amazing effects and beautiful images. Using water, windows, mirrors or any sort of reflective surface can change an image into a work of art. The wonderful thing about using reflections when taking photos is that they can completely alter the image from something fairly straightforward to something richer or abstract or otherwise more artistic. Beautiful Examples Of Shadow Photography
Just a neat, artistic picture of a skateboarder and his shadow.

Shadows can add a lot to a photograph. They can emphasize emotions, create surreal images, and be used in a variety of ways. While strong use of shadows in color photographs tends to be mostly used in silhouettes, it can also appear in a variety of other forms in color photos as well. LINK
Abandoned Missile Launch Site

This is an Abandoned Missile Launch Site. What it differs from other of such kind is that it has launched really big rockets that traveled to orbit, and what else - it was not destroyed like all the other sites left by Soviet army but is left untouched in the desert of Kazakhstan for anyone to visit.
