Dan Phillips is on a mission. He's determined to make sustainable, affordable housing for the common working man. Phillips calls it a "Homesteading Initiative" in which he helps people who desire their own home build it from the foundation up.
The future homeowner has complete control over the design of the finished house – it's their vision. All a prospective owner needs is good or no credit, a stable job and $500 to purchase their own tools. Phillips then lines them up with a seasoned contractor. What's more, the homes are made of 85% recycled material.
