An entire lake, with its barges, is sucked into a sinkhole

An old story, from 1980, when an oil drilling rig punctured an underground salt mine and an entire lake and its contents and much of the shoreline was sucked down into the resulting sinkhole. About 10 minutes, and quite interesting. LINK

When a Texaco oil rig mis-triangulates its drilling position and hits a nearby salt mine full of workers, an entire lake complete with homes, barges, and land drain into the enormous sink hole. Cajun Crawler

Based on the work of kinetic sculptor Theo Jansen, the Cajun Crawler holds up a Segway-style platform with a collection of mechanical legs, which can scurry across a floor with surprising agility. The project was built by a team of folks at the University of Louisiana. The walking starts at 1:00. Not really speedy for all the talk of speed. LINK

Pink dolphin appears in US lake

The world's only pink Bottlenose dolphin which was discovered in an inland lake in Louisiana, USA, has become such an attraction that conservationists have warned tourists to leave it alone.

"The dolphin appears to be healthy and normal other than its coloration, which is quite beautiful and stunningly pink.

"The mammal is entirely pink from tip to tail and has reddish eyes indicating it's albinism. The skin appears smooth, glossy pink and without flaws.

"It is a truly beautiful dolphin but people should be careful, as with any dolphins, to respect it - observe from a distance, limit their time watching, don't chase or harass it

"While this animal looks pink, it is an albino which you can notice in the pink eyes.

"Albinism is a genetic trait and it unclear as to the type of albinism this animal inherited." LINK
