Photographer Roger Horrocks' Deep Sea Encounters

An amazing photo set by Roger Horrocks, a marine and commercial photographer based in Cape Town , South Africa. Roger has one of the best jobs, he not only gets to travel all over the world, he gets to see an underworld that most of us could only dream of. Roger's perspective is one that only comes with time; his relationship with the ocean started at a young age growing up on the coast of Natal in South Africa. In 2006, Roger began to actively pursue a professional career as an environmental and underwater photographer. Using his freediving skills and ability to get close to animals underwater on one breath, he focused on sharks, marine mammals and human adventure underwater. LINK

"Broken Column House"

The Broken Column House is so named because it takes the form of a ruined classical column.

Truncated nearer to the base than the capital, jagged and riven with fissures, it was created by the aristocrat François Nicolas Henri Racine de Monville who made it his main residence during the years immediately before the French Revolution.

Nestled within the confines of Monville's private pleasure garden, the Désert de Retz, it “stands like a solitary beacon, signaling the visitor to prepare for an encounter with the bizarre.”
