Home is Where The Heart is: How Felines Find Their Way

Cat owners always wonder how their cats find their way home when this animal sometimes have never been outdoors before or when there are so much to see in the world. Feline make use of its senses in order to create a path and then retrace its steps.
Apparently, cats navigate by the sun. On home ground they register where the sun is positioned in the sky at certain times of the day. If a cat is lost or far from home, it works by trial and error until it finds the place where the position of the sun matches what is lodged in its memory. By then the cat has probably recognized the familiar landmarks and smells of its own territory as well.

A Visit to a Steampunked Home
Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum started ModVic (Modern Victorian) Home Restoration in June 2007 and have now moved onto steampunk Home Design. ModVic's mission is to authentically restore historic Victorian homes (1850 – 1910) to their original beauty and richness while completely modernizing the home’s systems, functional layout and conveniences for the family of today (sound familiar?). Bruce and Melanie also love the steampunk design aesthetic of combining the best of Victorian high design and craftsmanship with modern functionality and usefulness.
Bruce's home is a Craftsman style Victorian built in 1901. It has a great deal of history associated with it and Bruce has filled it with unusual Craftsman era antiques. But we're interested in steampunk here rather than the merely historical so I'm going to gloss over almost all of that and get to the mods and the steampunk art!
Be sure to go to the LINK this home is amazing.

Deconstructing a 36,000 Square Foot Home
I guarantee you have never seen a “tear-down” house like this one. A Minnesota company is disassembling an immense home in the prestigious Lake Minnetonka area west of Minneapolis.
This massive structure is filled with room after room of salvageable building materials in pristine condition, ranging from sprawling kitchens and custom cabinetry to a unique sauna and indoor pool slide.
At the company’s link are several pages of photos.
The company saves money by inviting the public to go directly to the home to harvest materials; what remains is transported to their warehouse and store for resale.

From Closed-Down Water Pumping Station To Elegant Home

If turning an abandoned nuclear missile silo into a home was impressive, then I don't know what to call this. All I know is that Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset turned an old water pumping station into a stylish home.
It wasn't a cheap project as the property alone cost $700,000, but Elmgreen and Dragset approached it as an art project and enlisted the help of architects Wenk und Wiese to start renovations. A year later the old building still had most of its character, but was now outfitted with a fireplace, embedded bathtub, private workspaces, and all the essentials of a home in a stunning layout.
