Tooth "tattoos"

The Heward Dental Lab in Salt Lake City specializes in "dental tattoos," which are actually custom hand-painted crowns. Owner and main artist Steve Heward is a traditional oil painter too. The artwork on a crown costs between $75 and $500. I don't think I'd want a painted crown in my mouth but I'd love to have a collection of them in my wunderkammer. Link, Via: Boing boing

The Cathedral of Antlers

Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest is the home of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum. It’s also the home of hundreds of antlers.
Hundreds of antlers, horns, hooves, and fur. Stuffed birds and mounted bears. Cutlery with horn handles carved into foxes. Antler broaches, antler chandeliers, and antler chairs. It is known as “The Hall of Hunting.” With beautiful vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows, along with the fact that the Agricultaral Museum is often empty, this top floor feels like the church of a long lost deer deity. Echoed footsteps and hushed whispers lend a quiet respect to these relics of the hunt.
One example of taxidermy art that stands out from the rest is two deer heads mounted together with their antlers entangled. Curious Expeditions has the story behind the museum and the antlers. Link, Via: Neatorama

When I get where Im going
This is A tribute to our fallen heros. Song by: Brad Paisley
My nephew served over in Iraq, and a young man named Jesse Lodka that I baby sat and changed his diapers was killed only a few feet away from my nephew. They were in the same troop together. My prayers are with the families that have loved ones there, and my sympathy to those of you who have lost a loved one.

World’s First Church Found?

Archaeologists in Jordan have discovered what could be the oldest Christian church in the world: an underground cave that may have been used by the first disciples of Jesus Christ.
Archaeologist Abdel-Qader Hussein, head of the Rihab Center for Archaeological Studies, Abdul Qader al-Husan told The Jordan Times:’We have uncovered what we believe to be the first church in the world, dating from 33 AD to 70 AD.
‘We have evidence to believe this church sheltered the early Christians - the 70 disciples of Jesus Christ.’
Mr Hussein said there was evidence that the underground cave was used in the first century after Christ’s death, which would make it the oldest Christian site of worship in the world.
The cave was unearthed in the northern Jordanian city of Rihab after three months of excavation and shows evidence of early Christian rituals.

10 Amazing Monuments to War Heroes

It was the 38th (Welsh) Infantry Division that was charged with taking Mametz Wood during the bloody Battle of the Somme on July 7, 1916. After five long days they managed to clear the woods of Germans, which cost them 4,000 deaths and casualties. This is how the 38th (Welsh) Division Memorial erected, with a defiant dragon (the Red Dragon of Wales was the division’s insignia) standing on a 10 feet plinth, facing the woods with the regimental cap badge of the South Wales Borderers carved on one side of the base.
