World's Youngest Tattoo Artist

Most little children like to doodle, but 3-year-old Ruby Dickinson really takes toddler art to the next level: she’s set to be the world’s youngest tattoo artist!

The toddler is set to become the world’s youngest tattoo artist after learning the trade from her father, Blane, who runs a tattoo parlour in Wales.

Mr Dickinson, 36, is importing an ink gun from the U.S. that has been specially designed to be used by small hands.

Edition Reuss recently released Black Tattoo Art: Modern Expressions of the Tribal, a photographic homage to a particular genre of skin art. The book is curated by Marisa Kakoulas (lawyer, writer, circus lady, and blogger.) The 536-page hardcover includes work by tattoo artists from Borneo, Argentina, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Europe and North America. The book weighs nearly ten pounds, and the binding is stitched with silver embossing. It's fat, heavy, and gorgeous.

Black Tattoo Art examines how indigenous tattooing has evolved over the years, beginning with a history section, then each of the styles that originate in tribal arts.

Father uses son's ashes in tattoo

A father from Herefordshire is to have a portrait of his dead son tattooed on his chest using the child's ashes.

Mark Richmond, 39, and his wife Lisa, 31, said they wanted to do something as a lasting tribute to their son Ayden.

He had a rare condition which meant he was unable to process fats and died in 2005, aged two years and four months.

The couple, who own a tattoo parlour in Greater Manchester, plan to mix some of Ayden's ashes in the ink for a 7in black and white portrait of him.

He said: "Some people might think it's a bit morbid, but until they have been through what we have, I don't think they can really judge us." LINK

London Tattoo Convention 2009

In London in the Tobacco Dock was 5th international festival of tattooing “London Tattoo Convention”. At the convention, attended by around 200 tattoo artists from different countries and a large number of disparate audience. Participants do tattoos, listen to music and watch performances of artists, dancers and musicians. As part of the convent passed several exhibitions: “Tattoos in a Tibetan style”, “Tara Arts”, exhibition of Oxford Museum of tattoos. LINK

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa is one of the most popular artworks in History, and it is not surprising people trying to imitate it in one form or another, but this huge Back Tattoo seems like a really painful way to show your love for art.

Tattoo artist HeadOvMetal has posted this Mona Lisa back tattoo from the Seattle Tattoo convention of 1995. Even though it is a tattoo, it is still amazing that such detail, effort and patience was spent on recreating the historical masterpiece. LINK

Swedish Magazine is Published as a Tattoo

The form of body tattoos has taken on a whole new level by scientists and tech geeks who are now using tattoos as a method of expression for their devotion to their scientific and technological passions.

Steve, owner of the Heart Flower tattoo wrote, “Growing from the heart is a seeding dandelion, from which are flowing, instead of seeds, nerve cells. I’m a second year medical student, so the nerves and heart I’m quite familiar with. The dandelion serves as a great way to tie the two together, and also adds a good element of motion to the tattoo. The stem of the dandelion is, essentially, the superior vena cava, and the roots are the pulmonary arteries (going off to the lungs). The dandelion leaves are all growing out of the aortic arch.” LINK
