Nokia Lumia Live ft deadmau5 lights up London with amazing 4D projection
On Monday 28th November Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows phone http://nokia.ly/uBVXxw brought deadmau5 and the world's most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show at Millbank Tower, London.
Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building's 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the "future of live events" the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance -- adding the 4th dimension. World’s Most Expensive Monopoly Set
“The world’s most expensive incarnation of the Monopoly board game is headed to Wall Street. An 18-karat gold version of the famous Parker Brothers board game will be on display beginning Friday at the Museum of American Finance. The gold and jewel-encrusted Monopoly is estimated to be worth roughly $2 million. The set of dice alone is valued at $10,000, with 42 full-cut diamonds for the number dots. All of the properties that make up the game board are also set in gems, with some 165 gemstones in total. The ‘Chance’ and ‘Community Chest’ cards are photo-etched. The notion of creating a blinged-out version of the board game came about in 1988, when San Francisco jeweler Sidney Mobell heard about a Monopoly tournament taking place in London. He called Parker Brothers (now part of Hasbro Inc.) for permission and then set to work creating the golden game, working every day for a year straight.” w/ photos. LINK

Crazy Stop-Motion Video Made From Over 2,000 Lomo Film Photos and Super 8 Footage
This is one of those videos that'll make you feel all warm inside. Over 20 Lomographers (toy camera-shooting people) from London got together to create a stop-motion video, combining their various films and shots for what you can see here:
There's even some Super 8 video included, too! They all used LC-A+ cameras (which cost about $250 apiece), but different types of film, such as slide film which was later cross-processed, color negative and redscale for that gritty-yet-warm red negative look. Over 2,000 photos and two reels of 8mm film were shot to produce the video, which was shot all around central London. [Lomography], Via: Gizmodo, Via: Youtube

Dictaphone Parcel
Dictaphone Parcel is an animation based on a sound recorded with a dictaphone travelling secretly inside a parcel. As the hidden recorder travels through the global mail system, from London to Helsinki, it captures the unexpected. We hear a mixture of abstract sounds, various types of transport and even discussions between the mail workers. The animation visualizes this journey by creating an imaginary documentary. LINK: Vimeo

Typewriter portraits are the right type of art
If you thought an old typewriter was just for producing letters on, think again - one artist is using ancient manual typrewriters to create astonishingly lifelike portraits of famous people.
Keira Rathbone hit on the idea of using manual typewriters – some 70 years old – as her paint brushes.
Working from her studio in Chiswick, London, and throughout the city, Keira turns the platen or roller to move the paper and selects different characters to make the shapes she wants. The 27-year-old artist from Dorset decides which of her 30 typewriters to use and creates faces and objects using numbers, letters and punctuation.
She said: ‘I love using a typewriter to draw. It’s an enjoyable process and a unique way of creating imagery. I often go around London and just sit there with a typewriter drawing what I can see or doing portraits.
‘People’s reaction is usually to say, ‘‘It’s amazing’’.’
Keira first got the idea to use a typewriter to make pictures while at university.
Over the last seven years she has ‘painted’ David Miliband, playwright Bonnie Greer and former Miss World Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai.
She has created magazine covers and appeared at events and festivals. Some of her portraits can take up to three weeks to do.
Her work is on display at the Montcalm hotel near Marble Arch in the West End. LINK

Big Straw Meerkat
What’s 36 feet tall, made of straw, and peers over the Nantwich horizon? A meerkat, of course! Snugburys Ice Cream Farm of Hurleston in England erects a big straw statue every summer.
The concept started in 1998 with a huge Millennium Dome sculpture and has also seen a straw replica of the Lovell telescope, London Eye as well as last year’s Big Ben standing beside the A51 near Chester.
Director Chris Sadler and his wife Cheryl come up with the ideas and the creations are made by Mike Harper, who builds a steel skeleton which is then stuffed with hay.
Speaking about this year’s design, Mr Harper, 57, said: ‘Everyone loves meerkats, especially my wife, so we thought it would be a good idea.

The Liger visits London
Ligers are giants because of "hybrid vigor", in which they gain the strengths and attributes of both parents. Ligers live long, healthy lives, are very smart and show great resistance to illness and disease.
Ligers are incredibly social animals and are comfortable living with both lions and tigers. They also display genuine affection for their human handler's and trainers.
Contrary to popular belief, ligers are not a "man-made" creation. Similar to pizzlies (polar bear / grizzly bear hybrids) and wolphins (whale / dolphin hybrids), ligers have existed in the wild for thousands of years. Due to the recent decline in both lion and tiger populations, however, their territories no longer overlap.
While some people do not consider ligers as "zoologically significant", their true importance is in getting people's attention and helping to convey the importance of global biodiversity and conservation. Obviously it works. . . . . after all, you are watching the video and reading this statement.

The Only Woman In The French Foreign Legion
British tennis-playing socialite Susan Travers (23 September 1909–18 December 2003) became the only woman in the French Foreign Legion, leading a daring, wartime, desert escape.
Born in southern England as the daughter of a Royal Navy admiral, but raised as a young tennis-playing socialite in the south of France, Travers was among thousands of women who joined the French Red Cross at the outbreak of the Second World War.
When France fell to the Nazis she made her way to London and signed up with General De Gaulle's Free French and was attached to the 13th Demi-Brigade of the Legion Etrangere, which sailed for Africa. Volunteering as a driver to the brigade's senior officers, she exhibited such nerves of steel in negotiating minefields and enemy attacks that she earned the affectionate nickname 'La Miss' from her thousand male comrades.
