AquaDom – The Tallest cylindrical aquarium in the world

AquaDom is the tallest cylindrical aquarium in the world, its an 25 meter tall aquarium cylinder with acrylic glass and it has in built transparent elevator. Aquadom is located at The Radisson Blu hotel in Berlin, Germany. Aquadom complex has offices, restaurant, and the aquarium Sea Life Centre. The construction cost of the Aquadom was about 12.8 million euros, and it was opened in May 2004. Aquarium was built by International Concept Management and acrylic glass cylinder was constructed by Reynolds Polymer Technology. Aquadom is now the central attraction of the Berlin Sea Life Centre. aquarium tank contains 5,000,000 liters of seawater and it contains over 1,500 fish of 50 different species. Everyday 3-4 divers jump into aquarium, to feed the fish and clean the fish tank. the fish in aquarium the need 8 kg of fish food daily. Such moments invariably attract many viewers in the hotel. Nokia Lumia Live ft deadmau5 lights up London with amazing 4D projection

On Monday 28th November Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows phone http://nokia.ly/uBVXxw brought deadmau5 and the world's most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show at Millbank Tower, London.

Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building's 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the "future of live events" the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance -- adding the 4th dimension. Man Tries to Build Telegraph from Scratch

Jamie O’Shea is a conceptual artist. We’ve previously featured his bed, which is designed to be used standing up. More recently, he became interested in the role of knowledge in developing our technological civilization. Is knowledge alone enough, or are we dependent upon tools made by others? To find out, O’Shea decided to build a telegraph completely from scratch — including the tools — using only what he found in a New Jersey forest. At the link, you can watch a video of his attempt.

This innovative pasta functions as a whistle, capable of generating two different tones from one piece – a tone from each respective end. The design is based on the extrusion technology such as the well-known Penne type, with the introduction of two supplementry operations of squashing and a cut for channeling the airflow.

Sintel

"Sintel" is an independently produced short film, initiated by the Blender Foundation as a means to further improve and validate the free/open source 3D creation suite Blender. With initial funding provided by 1000s of donations via the internet community, it has again proven to be a viable development model for both open 3D technology as for independent animation film.
This 15 minute film has been realized in the studio of the Amsterdam Blender Institute, by an international team of artists and developers. THE STEEPEST RAILWAYS ON EARTH

“Before trains were ever imagined, funicular railways were created to transport people and goods from Point A to Point B. Interestingly, in the funicular design, Point A and Point B are separated by a sharp change in altitude. Though it would seem that getting a car up a hill is harder than moving it across a flat surface, using a design technology similar to a rope pulley, the funicular railway was possible. Two funicular railway cars are attached to each other via cable, counterbalancing to minimize the energy required to move the ascending car. The need for uphill railways was strong in the middle ages because the wealthiest people, who could afford to build a new technology, lived snugly and safely at the highest peak in the town.” w/ photos. Scientists Take Pictures of Antarctic Mountain Range for the First Time

The Gamburtsev Mountains in Antarctica, named after Soviet geophysicist Grigoriy Gamburtsev, lie beneath a mile of solid ice. Scientists have known about their general location for a while, but only recently were able to take pictures of them:

The images are the result of radar technology, and reveal a dramatic landscape of rocky summits, deep river valleys, and liquid, not frozen, lakes, all hidden beneath the ice. The range itself rivals the Alps in size and cover an area that is roughly the size of New York State.

“What we’d shown before was an estimate based on gravity data — a little bit of a coarse resolution tool,” said Robin Bell, a senior research scientist at Columbia’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in New York. “What we showed at this meeting was the radar data. It’s like going from using a big, fat sharpie to using a fine-tipped pencil.”

Insane Dominoes Maze

Domino Day is a world record attempt for the highest number of toppling domino stones, organized each year in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, there will be no Domino Day 2010 because of the financial crisis. Sponsors were very interested but their available sponsor budgets were not sufficient to produce the TV show this year.

Instead, enjoy this insane dominoes maze made last year to promote the ImagineRIT Innovation and Creativity Festival from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
