Jimi Hendrix's Final Recordings to be Released

40 years after his death, Jimi Hendrix is still burning down sound barriers. A new album from the legendary guitarist's final recording session is set for release next month, called Valleys of Neptune, and will include songs that have never been commercially released.

The new release is a 12-track album of rarely-heard songs from some of the last recording sessions in Hendrix's brief career. The album will be released March 9th and is part of a project to rerelease all of his studio albums in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of his death.

Among the songs included are an instrumental cover of Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love," and alternative recordings of classics like "Stone Free," "Red House" and "Fire."

According to the guitarist's sister, Janie Hendrix, this album is indicative of her brother's peerless musical talent.

"My brother Jimi was at home in the studio. Valleys of Neptune offers deep insight into his mastery of the recording process and demonstrates the fact that he was as unparalleled a recording innovator as he was a guitarist," she told Rolling Stone. "His brilliance shines through on every one of these precious tracks." LINK, Via: Youtube
