Miraculous escape for duck shot through the head with nail gun

A duck had to undergo emergency surgery after surviving for several days with a 4in nail embedded in its skull. The bird, called Tully by vets, had been shot through the head with a nail gun.

But it took rescuers three days to capture the creature, who had the nail sticking out from both sides of its head. The duck was then rushed for emergency surgery at a vets in Devon Meadows, Victoria, in Australia.

After giving Tully an anaesthetic, vets were able to remove the nail which had pierced his head just 4mm from an eye. Nigel Williamson, 43, from Australian Animal Rescue, was eventually able to catch him after a concerned member of the public raised the alarm.

'He didn't seem bothered about it at all but in his healthy state it meant he was still very hard to get hold of. LINK

Trucking Duck

Truck driver Joe Mansheim of Minnesota has an unusual assistant: his duck! Mansheim raised Frank from a duckling and now the duck accompanies him every day at work.

Joe and Frank chat often on the road. Joe complains about the traffic; Frank quacks. And driver and duck go about their business delivering construction materials throughout the Twin Cities for Elite Transportation Systems.

“Pretty good looking site we helped build there,” Joe says proudly to Frank as they descend into the Mississippi River valley with a load of steel for the new I-35W bridge. “We did a good job Frankie.”

To many of the construction workers he encounters in his deliveries, Joe is now known as the “duck man.”

The title suits him just fine.

“I go to these construction sites and you always see everybody smile when they see him,” Joe says.

Duck with Chicken Feet is Afraid of the Water

Chinese farmer Fu Haiwen has a strange duck: it has chicken feet and is afraid of the water!

Fu said he bought the duck in June but did not notice its unusual feet for ten days, reports Laibin News.

It was only after he noticed it acting differently to the rest of the ducks that he examined it closely and was surprised to see it did not have webbed feet.

"It never went with the other ducks to swim in the river," he explained.
