Mysterious 'crop circles' appear on ice in Norway

77-year -old Ole Johan Hansen from Arna, outside Bergen in the west of Norway, saw a mystic light out on the lake one evening, about 6ft wide, unlike anything he had seen before.

He could see no one with his binoculars, and due to the risk of falling through the ice, did not investigate until the next day.


The following day, a strange, symmetric pattern covered the lake.

Spinning Ice Circles

On December 13th, 2008, This mysterious 'ice circle' appeared in, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. They occur at bends in the river where the accelerating water creates a force called 'rotational shear,' which breaks off a chunk of ice and twists it around. As the disc rotates, it grinds against surrounding ice - smoothing into a perfect circle.
