LOVE YOU DAD AND MOM " RIP "

This is a picture of my Dad and Mom. My Dad passed away on this date 42 years ago, he was 52 years old. I still miss him as if it was yesterday. My Mom passed away January 18th 2000, 11 years this coming January, she was 68 years old. Which also feels like yesterday. To everyone, Love and spend time with your parents it sure is empty without them.

Bryan helped me get these following pictures with google earth of the farm where I grew up and the cemetery where my grandparents are buried.


This photo brings back many memories of my childhood. My brothers and I used to race from the yard to county rd 6 to see who could get the left over snacks in our Dads lunch bucket. My Dad worked many years for Larsons Gravel Company and also farmed our land.


This is the top view of our farm one quarter mile off of county rd 6. The farm place to the lower right is the old Ignace & Mildred Zinda farm. Mildred was my God Mother. Presently the farm yard area is owned my Marlo and Lori Remund.


This photo is the top view of the cemetery where my grand parents (My Dads mom and dad are buried). It is located about one half mile off County rd 6 on County rd 9.

Google Puts the World at the Tip of Painter's Brush

Bill Guffey has never walked the streets of London, New York or Barcelona. He has never visited the coast of Maine or watched the sun set in Italy over a Florentine villa.

But if you looked around his rural Kentucky studio, you would never know it.

Tableaus from European cities and every U.S. state (except for Hawaii) cover the walls of his home, illustrating the adventures of a presumably well-traveled artist. Yet the self-taught oil painter said he has never physically been to 99 percent of the places he has captured on canvas.

To reach the closest Wal-Mart, Guffey said he needs at least 30 minutes in the car. But with 30 seconds on his computer, he can fly around the world with Google Street View and paint any place his cursor lands.

Not only does the mapping tool give Guffey and other users a street-level window to many places in the world, it lets them navigate 360-degree horizontal and 290-degree vertical unbroken panoramas. LINK

Go Underwater with Google Earth

What Google Earth did for mapping the Earth they now plan to do for the Earth’s oceans. Launched February 2, Ocean in Google Earth will allow users to navigate underwater without a snorkel, exploring shipwrecks, algal blooms, maps of tiny phytoplankton, even the homes of the jaunty nudibranchs. Within the layers, users can check out multimedia features that combine data and maps with videos, quizzes and other interactives, as well as photos from National Geographic. The idea for Google Ocean came about after Google Geo Products director John Hanke had a conversation a few years ago with NatGeo explorer-in-residence Sylvia Earle, marine biologist and tireless champion of the ocean and its inhabitants. She told John when he was working on Google Earth: "I hope someday, John, you’ll finish [Google Earth]. You’ve done a great job with the dirt, but there’s all that water out there– the world is blue."

In addition to National Geographic, several well-known marine institutions such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Scripps, and Woods Hole have contributed data.
