Amazing iPad Animations!

“5 static images on an iPad are brought to life by passing a transparent sheet with black lines over the screen. These animations use the same concept as my other videos. The only difference is, the images in this video are on a screen instead of printed on a piece of paper. Ever since I first created my first animated optical illusion years ago I have always wondered if the concept would work on a screen. Sure enough! It does. This took about a week to produce. Dictaphone Parcel is an animation based on a sound recorded with a dictaphone travelling secretly inside a parcel. As the hidden recorder travels through the global mail system, from London to Helsinki, it captures the unexpected. We hear a mixture of abstract sounds, various types of transport and even discussions between the mail workers. The animation visualizes this journey by creating an imaginary documentary. Making Future Magic: iPad light painting

This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world.

They use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, they play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. The world's smallest stop-motion animation

Professor Fletcher's invention of the CellScope, which is a Nokia device with a microscope attachment, was the inspiration for a teeny-tiny film created by Sumo Science at Aardman. It stars a 9mm girl called Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world. All the minuscule detail was shot using CellScope technology and a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics. LINK: Youtube

Skhizein - Awesome Animation

Skhizein is a strange film that begins with a man at a psychiatrist's office talking about his problem. It seems that since a meteorite struck nearby, he's been "out of phase". In other words, every thing he does is 91 centimeters off (that's a yard for all of us non-metric folks)! When he goes to the toilet, for example, he needs to stand 91 centimeters to the right or he'll miss! And, when he wants to look out the window, he puts his head through the wall next to the window! It's all very strange yet compelling. What is also strange is the animation style. While it uses CGI, the look is totally unique and the main character looks a lot like a child's drawing or the David character from David Shannon's books.

Unique, compelling and clever--what more could you want from an animated short?!
