Mystery creature lurking on ocean floor near Tokyo

What shall we name this odd undersea creature? How about P. areidolia?

Cameras aboard JAMSTEC's Hyper-Dolphin ROV have captured footage of something strange lurking on the floor of Sagami Bay, southwest of Tokyo.

Architect Edgar Tafel gives a brief discussion and presents his picture slides Of Frank Lloyd Wright's Imperial Hotel in Tokyo Japan, as the most unfortunate demolition of this architectural masterpiece had already begun. Stop-motion woodblock print videos by Tromarama

"QUOTE" From July 24th through November 7th, the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo will feature the work of Indonesian art trio Tromarama. Tromarama uses animation, stop-motion, woodblock prints, and other crafty things to create these fun music videos. Catch Yayoi Kusama's latest exhibit in Italy

If you're in Milan anytime between now and February 14, 2010, I highly recommend that you check out octogenarian avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama's exhibit at the Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea. Kusama lives in a mental hospital in Tokyo, but she's still a prolific producer of art filled with dots and repetitions; in a biographical documentary titled I Love Me, she claims that drawing is the only thing that makes her feel normal. Gigantic Polish Binary Clock

Like a giant Tokyo Flash watch, this binary clock installation at the Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland, was erected by students hoping to promote the technical nature of their university. How noble.

The Big Binary Clock project displays the time using 18 round windows, with the green LEDs representing the hours, the blue representing the minutes, and the red the seconds. The time can be set remotely via Bluetooth, and an NXP ARM7 processor keeps it ticking over nicely. Certainly beats the usual "projects" students "erect" in US colleges. Throne Made from Nintendo Cartridges

This throne, according to Internet rumor, is seven feet tall, can be found in Tokyo, and is made entirely of Nintendo game cartridges.

Watch Sony's 360 Degree 3D Display in Action

The prototype is now on show in Tokyo, and as you'll see in the video, the 96 by 128-pixel resolution looks better than you might expect. In person, objects appear to have depth, and can be viewed from all angles.

The cylindrical display is about 10.6-inches tall (and 5.1-inches in diameter). Sony doesn't seem quite sure what to do with it at the moment, but says it's considering various uses, like digital signage, or even a digital photo frame for the home. [Sony Via: Network World]. Via: Gizmodo

Giant Gundam Gathers Gawking Geeks

Embrace your inner geek - in Tokyo a life-size Gundam almost 60 feet tall has been revealed in all its glory. Gundam for those not up on their anime nostalgia was an animated show which started in 1979 about a future where robots or mecha piloted by humans battle for supremacy or something like that.

Tokyo's Gundam is currently in Odaiba. The big ceremony will be July 10th and it will remain throughout the summer. The Gundam model has 50 points of light, emits steams, and its head revolves left to right and up.

Umihotaru, the floating car park

This strange-looking beast in Tokyo is an artificial island and tourist attraction by the name of Umihotaru (translation: marine firefly) which forms part of the Tokyo bay Aqualine, a bridge-tunnel that connects Kawasaki and Kisarazu.
Cars can either drive over the 4.4km bridge to the island and park in order to admire the view or drive straight through to the tunnel entrance where they will be taken under the water for 9.5km until they reach Kawasaki.
The tunnel is apparently the longest underwater road tunnel in the world. LINK
