RIP Mom "MISS YOU"

The years have gone by and many thoughts have gone through my mind. It is 1-2011 and it has been 11 years since my mom passed away. I got a phone call from my brother that he had found our Mom on her kitchen floor 1-18-2000(passed away).I fell against the wall and slowly went to the floor in disbelief. Still feels like yesterday.

My mom commented that she wanted to see in the millenium (2000) and she lived to see it.

I miss her so much, someone to talk to. That loving shoulder to cry on when you feel down. The motherly advice she was always so willing to give. For those of you with parents, spend as much time as possible with them. Some day they will be gone like both my parents and there is NO getting that time back.

There is other emotional things with name calling through my life that made me feel like I had failed in her eyes. I try hard and will continue to do so.

LOVE YOU MOM

An Enviable Post Office in Ghana

"QOUTE" This is music made by four postal workers as they cancel postage! When I listen carefully, I think I can actually hear the spring mechanisms as the stamps hit the ink. I love it as an example of music turning what is normally seen as a boring, repetitive task into something this joyful.

"QUOTE" The song was originally recorded in 1975 at the University of Ghana by James Koetting and appeared on a cd accompanying the book Worlds of Music, but you can download the whole clip here. Thanks to Bernie Krause and Anthropologist Steven Feld for helping me track this one down. LINK: Boingboing, Via: Youtube

If you go to the youtube link you can read more on how they did the music.

Where does your dairy come from? Look it up on this website

"QUOTE" At whereismymilkfrom.com, you can enter the code from a carton of (cow's) milk and find out where that dairy product came from. I know, I know, "Duh, a cow!" — but like, what farm. I only drink veggie milks myself now (almond, soy, coconut, rice) but this seems like a helpful tool for others. When I read the copy on the website like "Just go get the milk out of your fridge!" I hear Dr. Steve Brule's voice, and the word "dummy!" at the end. (Via: Consumerist) Via: Boingboing

Creative Photography by Vienna Paint

Vienna paint was founded as a two-man mission in 1988 by Andreas Fitzner and Albert Winkler, a time when digital post production and image manipulation were terms only used by a few visionary insiders.

TYWKIWDBI has a new feedburner feed

Blog Post from them below.

As an amateur I stumbled through the process this morning.

The new feedburner link is here.

Or alternatively [xml] here?

I don't know whether this new feed is equivalent to/better/worse than the feed I currently have posted in the right sidebar. I haven't added this to the sidebar with a widget because I'm not sure if I should "redirect the Blogger feed to the Feedburner feed" or not. LINK

Skullduggery

Sort of surprised I haven't seen this brilliant bit of arrangement on Skull-A-Day, but nope, the fine ladies at Badder Homes and Gardens spotted it first. LINK

Ha, well if it's any consolation I did mention his work in this post in February of '08!

Flooded Louisville Free Public Library needs your help

Joshua sez, "Steve Lawson and the Library Society of the World are trying to raise money to help the Louisville Free Public Library, which was hit by horrible flash floods last week. Could you help us help the library out?"

So a lot of those books we sent them in the spring are now covered in water and sewage. And so are the bookmobiles. And the mechanical equipment for HVAC. And the data center. And $50,000 worth of new computers. The initial estimate is $1 million in damage, but they must just be guessing at this point. LINK: Boingboing

Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar

This game will only take about five minutes of your time, but it will change your life forever. What the game lacks in, like, having more than one level, it more than makes up for with robots, dinosaurs, and roar-induced beam-shooting. Have at it.

Go to the LINK to play the game.
