Scale model of a war-torn WWII town built and photographed by brain-damaged beating victim

Mark Hogancamp was beaten into a "brain-damaging coma" by five men outside a bar. After he awoke, he devoted himself to building "Marwencol," a 1/6th scale WWII town, in his back yard: "Mark populated the town he dubbed 'Marwencol' with dolls representing his friends and family and created life-like photographs detailing the town's many relationships and dramas. Playing in the town and photographing the action helped Mark to recover his hand-eye coordination and deal with the psychic wounds from the attack. Through his homemade therapy, Mark was able to begin the long journey back into the 'real world', both physically and emotionally - something he continues to struggle with today."

The level of detail is amazing, and heart-wrenching, and sometimes just plain weird and disturbing. But it's also wonderful -- both as a display of sheer craft and dedication, and as a monument to a difficult and painful recovery.

WW2 German fighter plane sidecar

This beautifully bizarre and unique creation is the brainchild of Hungarian bike builder and Wild West theme park owner Henrik Toth.

The design is based on a Second world war Messerschmitt ME109 fighter plane and entirely hand built by Henrik.

The sidecar - or fuselage - is attached to a Yamaha Wild Star cruiser, disappointingly the propeller on the chair isn't powered.

Toth's other T-motor Sidecars and his wild west village just outside of Budapest can be seen on his website. LINK

World War 2 Japanese Super-Submarine Found In Hawaii

According to Dr Hans Van Tillburg, "[the I-201 submarine] was nothing like anybody had in the Second World War. It had a streamlined body and conning tower and retractable gun." They just found it in Hawaii. [National Geographic, Via: Daily Mail, Via: Gizmodo]

WWII German Infantry Weapons

This very interesting 14 minute video demonstrates the functionality as well as the effectiveness of Germany’s infantry weapons during WWII. Listed is a description of the Karabiner 98K, MP40 Machine Pistole, the famous Luger, the Stielhandgranate or better known as the Potato masher both MG34 and MG42 machine guns and more.

The video appears to be a vintage color film that was probably used for training purposes between 1939-1945 (unconfirmed)
