The Best Windows 7 Song You’ll Hear Today

It's official: Windows 7 mania has reached a fever pitch. First a burger dedicated to the OS, now fifth-grader Will Smith gives us this adorable performance of "Windows Rising," set to the tune of CCR's "Bad Moon Rising."

According to the source, Will wants to program for Microsoft when he gets older. Let me tell you something, kid: If you show this video to anyone at Microsoft, there's no way they won't give you a job on the spot.

And one other thing, Will: You do far more justice to your source material than the majority of CCR cover bands out there. Keep up the good work. [TechFlash], Via: Gizmodo, Via: Youtube

World’s Smallest Working Model Train

Model train enthusiast David K. Smith has built a miniscule train layout which works – the train travels in an ellipse, including through a “mountain.”

“Thus, what was intended to be a Z scale model of a 4- by 8-foot HO scale layout became a Z scale model of a 2- by 4-foot N scale layout! After I picked myself up off the floor, I made a few quick calculations… the modeling scale would be an eye-popping 1:35,200, and the finished layout would measure .125 by .200 inches…”

The video shows the basics of the layout and the clever solution re the motor. Further details re the construction are here.

Awe-Inspiring Typewriter Art - Paul Smith

Suffering from severe spastic cerebral palsy from an early age, the awe-inspiring artist Paul Smith displayed extraordinary talent in teaching himself to create typewriter art at an early age. The loss of fine motor control of his face and hands made it impossible for him to attend school — let alone eat, clothe, or bathe himself.

He was able to use his left hand to steady the right and thus press the keys. The artist began creating typewriter art at age 15, and steadily refined his technique. Locking the shift key down to make his pictures using the symbols at the top of the number keys, his images were based on the characters, ” @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ ”

Paul spent 2 to 3 hours a day with his art, while listening to Classical music. It would take him anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months to create a single piece of artwork. LINK
