Miniature Origami Artist

“Using only paper, scissors and tweezers, Teh, 23, painstakingly creates 3mm high animals and flowers. They are reckoned to be the smallest of their kind in the world. The architecture student, who has worked in England, first experi- mented with origami when she was nine, using sweet wrappers to create truly dinky toys. She now takes just 20 minutes to make them. ‘I believe my first attempt took me an hour, but later I have managed to fold one in about 20 minutes,’ she said. ‘It depends on my state of mind and how much practice I have had with a particular model, as the process is unique every time.” w/ photos. World’s Smallest Working Model Train

Model train enthusiast David K. Smith has built a miniscule train layout which works – the train travels in an ellipse, including through a “mountain.”

“Thus, what was intended to be a Z scale model of a 4- by 8-foot HO scale layout became a Z scale model of a 2- by 4-foot N scale layout! After I picked myself up off the floor, I made a few quick calculations… the modeling scale would be an eye-popping 1:35,200, and the finished layout would measure .125 by .200 inches…”

The video shows the basics of the layout and the clever solution re the motor. Further details re the construction are here.

The Smallest Airplanes In The World

This is not about remote controlled or paper airplanes. This is about the smallest manned planes in the world. The first plane to be so titled was known as the Wee Bee. The diminutive plane was designed, built, and flown by Ken Coward, William Chana, and Karl Montijo in San Diego, California, during the late 1940s.

Just over 14 ft long and with a wingspan of only 18 ft, the Wee Bee was powered by a 30-hp piston engine and could carry a maximum of 200 lb, including the pilot and fuel. Weight was kept to a minimum by having the pilot lay in a prone position atop the fuselage. LINK

The Smallest Girl in the World

14-year-old Jyoti Amge stands 1 foot 11 inches tall and weighs 11 pounds!

She has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and won’t grow any taller than her current height.

Due to her size, Jyoti has to have clothes and jewellery made for her. She sleeps in a tiny bed and uses special plates and cutlery to eat, as normal-sized utensils are too big.

Despite this, she goes to a regular school in Nagpur, central India, where she has her own small desk and chair, and her classmates treat her like any other student.

Jyoti is a celebrity in her hometown, and will soon release a musical album. She hopes to be a Bollywood actress someday. Link: Via: The Presurfer, Via : Neatorama
