Sunflower star has weird way of eating

A sunflower star can have up to 26 arms and 15,000 tube feet, which it can use to pry open a clam. The sunflower star then pushes its stomach out of its mouth and into the clam, digesting the hapless bivalve in its own shell.

The sunflower star is the largest sea star in the world. It's also one of the fastest animals on the ocean bottom, crawling one metre... a minute, which may not seem that fast to us but is speedy if you're a clam just chillin' on the sand.

Over 80,000 Dominoes - "Around the World" - Screenlink

Uploaded by IIIIIDominoIIIII on Sep 22, 2011
For all of you who are wondering why there are countries missing: This video was a community project and every registered user who wanted to had the chance to participate in it. The only thing you had to do was build a little domino run showing a country you like. We didn't tell the people which country to and left everything free to the creativity of the people participating in the video. Of course that means that there are countries missing - and of course it also means that there are countries that are in the video more than once. Sorry for that. We hope that you will still enjoy watching the video.

The World’s Largest Coffee Bean Mosaic

(Video Link) Saimir Strati composes mosaics out of unusual substances, including toothpicks and nails. His message in this 270-square foot mosaic made of coffee beans is simple: “One world, one family, one coffee.” The five human figures represent five continents (sorry, Australia and Antarctica) uniting together in a caffeinated peace. -Via: The Presurfer | Via: Neatorama

Incredible Globes

A walk-in Earth at the Mapparium in Boston’s Mary Baker Eddy Library:

A globe you can walk into? It is actually a 30-ft bridge covered with a stained-glass dome that has brought more than 10 million visitors to the middle of the earth since 1935. But don’t get confused, it also depicts the world as it was in 1935! LINK

Unlike regular seasonal epidemics of the flu, there are also rare but deadly pandemics, i.e. cases of influenza that spread on a worldwide scale and infect a large proportion of the human population.
Here's a summary of the 5 deadliest pandemics in history. LINK

Awesome Aerial Tramways of the World

There aren’t many who are ambivalent about aerial tramways - people usually either love them or hate them. Perhaps hate is too mild a word here, we could substitute loathe, despise or fear with ease and that wouldn’t be description enough for many.

This selection, taken from all over the planet, covers a number of world beaters in their own way and includes plenty of pictures to help you imagine the heights that they ascend - and descend. Pictured is the highest tramway in the world, the Cableway of Merida in Venezuela. It travels to 4765 meters altitude!

The 5 Oldest Banks In The World

With so much focus on the demise of banks of all sizes, its easy to imagine the worst doomsday scenarios and wonder if your own bank is next. However, some banks have continued operations throughout civil wars, world wars and economic depressions without going under.

The Most Listened To Melody in the World

If you hit the “Play” button you can listen Peppe Giorri playing this beautiful Gran Vals para Guitarra a.k.a. Valse Grande… If you listen carefully, just after the 15-second mark you’ll probably recognize the so called Nokia Tune, which rings in more than 800,000 phones all over the world every day. It’s repeated through the whole vals, making it the world’s most listened to melody in the world.

The song is composed by Francisco Tárrega Eixea (1852, 1909) [wiki].

Listen the whole track, it’s wonderful.
