Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilot and out-of -work electrical engineer Cy Brown strapped a camera to his GPS-enabled plane and had some friends launch fireworks at it. A rural farmland becomes a miniature war zone, as Cy pilots and swivels the lens, hunting down the active thrillseeker sect’s base camp. LINK: Neatorama

Augmenting Aerial Earth Maps with Dynamic Information
Kihwan Kim, Sangmin Oh, Jeonggyu Lee, and Irfan Essa of the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology are introducing methods for augmenting aerial visualizations of Earth (from tools such as Google Earth) with dynamic information obtained from videos.
Their goal is to make Augmented Earth Maps that visualize the live broadcast of dynamic sceneries within a city. They propose different approaches to analyze videos of pedestrians and cars, under differing conditions and then augment Aerial Earth Maps with live and dynamic information. They also analyze natural phenomenon (clouds) and project information from these to the AEMs to add the visual reality. LINK: Presurfer

Awesome Aerial Tramways of the World
There aren’t many who are ambivalent about aerial tramways - people usually either love them or hate them. Perhaps hate is too mild a word here, we could substitute loathe, despise or fear with ease and that wouldn’t be description enough for many.
This selection, taken from all over the planet, covers a number of world beaters in their own way and includes plenty of pictures to help you imagine the heights that they ascend - and descend. Pictured is the highest tramway in the world, the Cableway of Merida in Venezuela. It travels to 4765 meters altitude!

Aerial Balloon Panorama
The hot air balloon is one of the most enticing things to fly. Slow, lulled by the winds and basically old fashion, it permits to take interesting panoramic images, as German photographer Bernd Dohrmann shows in this panoramic picture. The picture was taken over Northern Germany at a height of 390 feet. LINK
