Parallel of Time Clock
The Australian architectural firm Clarke Hopkins Clarke designed a clock called “Parallel of Time.” As the shapes move, the shorter hands indicate the hour and minutes:
Time is parallel. The speed of time (on earth) is indubitable but everyone’s perception of it is somehow different. Using multiple clocks and cables to create a number of parallelograms, a design is generated: the Parallel of Time. The parallelograms are interconnected, creating an optically illusory axonometric timepiece.
Mechanically speaking, since the hands on every clock (within the same time zone) produce the same angle, the lengths of the connecting cables remain constant as the clocks run. The hour and minute hands are positioned on either side of the glass to prevent cable collisions.
You can watch the clock in action at the first link. LINK: Clock Website

Spin Time Instead of Records On This Old Turntable
Etsy seller Pixelthis is doing a mean trade in clocks, some of which are the usual hard-drives you've seen before, but there are a few nice turntables too, like this subtle Sanyo and an ultra-retro 1960s one. [Etsy, Via: BB-Blog], Via: Gizmodo

Segmentus Clock Concept is Half Digital, Half Analog
First, man made the analog clock. Then he made the digital clock. Then, just because he could, he made the funky cross between the two that looks like a digital clock but has moving mechanical parts like an analog one.
Art Lebedev, the patron saint of cool concepts that will never be manufactured as real products, has applied his unique genius to the world of timekeeping. The result is Segmentus, a clock that uses swinging plastic segments to replicate LCD-style numbers.
OK, the numbers aren't always the easiest to read—this is particularly annoying for those of us who thought that digital clocks would always be a safe harbor in the confusing and often embarrassing world of analog timekeeping—but, hey, it's art. Er, Art. [Art Lebedev, Via: SlashGear], Via: Gizmodo, Via: Youtube

Aspiral Analog Clocks Use a Ball Instead of Hands
Aspiral Clocks don't use hands or digital displays, just a ball. The clock itself spins, driving the ball through a spiral until—every twelve hours—it disappears in a hole at the center. Confused? Here's a video: Via: Youtube
But for $545, it will probably only excite fans of Bill Halley. [It's Nice That], Via: Gizmodo

Coffee Can Clock
“This build is by Florinc from the Wise Time With Arduino blog. He though that a coffee can might make a great enclosure for an alarm clock. Lucky for us, this clock almost looks like a piece of art. It has these gigantic LEDs that are just so neat to have around. The electronics inside are based on the Wiseduino, an arduino clone with a real time clock on board. An LED matrix sits on top of it. Sounds pretty simple, right?” LINK, Via: Youtube

Hard Drive Clock Is An Arduino-Fueled, LED Trip
Hard drive clocks are a dime a dozen on sites like Etsy, but Hacked Gadgets reader NatureTM went the extra mile and employed an Arduino to control the time and LED light show on the reflective platters.
This is only phase one of NatureTM's project, a chronodot (for time accuracy) and a case will eventually be added. Details on the build are pretty basic at the moment, but a schematic can be requested and code should be posted...eventually. [Hacked Gadgets], Via: Gizmodo

Standard Time by Mark Formanek
"Standard Time" is the work of artist Mark Formanek, who filmed the whole thing as a documentary. I'm sure there's some deeper point about the indefatigable march of time and mankind's role in a digital age, but I mostly like it for the time-lapse footage. [Standard Time, Via: Infosthetics], Via: Gizmodo, Via: Youtube
At Rotterdam Central Station (NL) a "digital" clock was shown for 24 hours from 27 November to 28 November, which was meticulously kept by a total of 36 workers. Each minute was carefully adjusted.

A Clock Redrawn by Hand Every Minute
(YouTube Link)
When you watch this video, you might think that this is a man standing behind a sheet of plastic, re-drawing the hands on a clock face every minute. Actually, this clock by designer Maarten Baas is a LED screen showing the artist doing precisely that on a continuous loop. The video is from the recent Design Miami fair, which ended on December 5th.
