AquaDom – The Tallest cylindrical aquarium in the world

AquaDom is the tallest cylindrical aquarium in the world, its an 25 meter tall aquarium cylinder with acrylic glass and it has in built transparent elevator. Aquadom is located at The Radisson Blu hotel in Berlin, Germany. Aquadom complex has offices, restaurant, and the aquarium Sea Life Centre. The construction cost of the Aquadom was about 12.8 million euros, and it was opened in May 2004. Aquarium was built by International Concept Management and acrylic glass cylinder was constructed by Reynolds Polymer Technology. Aquadom is now the central attraction of the Berlin Sea Life Centre. aquarium tank contains 5,000,000 liters of seawater and it contains over 1,500 fish of 50 different species. Everyday 3-4 divers jump into aquarium, to feed the fish and clean the fish tank. the fish in aquarium the need 8 kg of fish food daily. Such moments invariably attract many viewers in the hotel. The Frank Lloyd Wright Water Dome @ Florida Southern College

The Water Dome was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as part of Florida Southern College's "Child of the Sun" campus in Lakeland. It was constructed in the 1940s but was not completed as Wright envisioned until 2007. The Water Dome premiered on October 25, 2007. LINK: Youtube

Lego Battleship Yamato Is Biggest Lego Ship Ever

Like its real counterpart, this Battleship Yamato is the biggest Lego ship ever constructed. At 22 feet long, it took 6 years and 4 months to complete by one of our Lego contest winners. [Updated]

The Yamato—along with her sister ship Musashi—was the largest battleship ever constructed: 862 feet and 10 inches long and 121 feet long at its widest point. Made by Jumpei Mitsui, the Lego version was constructed at minifig scale (1/40), which is an amazing task that resulted in these specs: Is Bigger Than Three Queen-Sized Beds.

• 22 feet long.
• 3 feet wide.
• 330 pounds.
• More than 200,000 Lego pieces.

Waves by Daniel Palacios

Daniel Palacios took a piece of string and two motors and turn them into an amazing art installation:

‘Waves’ utilizes a basic construction of a long piece of elastic string and two motors to visualize the presence of people close to the installation. The string between the two motorized chambers reacts to the people presence and movements, it twirls to produce a sine-wave simulation that eloquently resembles both the digitization of real-time sound waves and patterns of flow and connectivity found in natural systems.

Underwater Art Museum

A museum is under construction off the coast of Cancun. By the end of the year, divers may be able to visit four hundred sculptures in a maritime park:

The cement sculpture, called ‘The Collector’, shows a figure who records bottled treasures in logbooks. It weighs four tonnes and is anchored 26 feet under the sea. Divers watch a yellowtail damselfish nibble on algae growing from the sculpture’s pant leg, which its creators hope will eventually sprout colourful coral.

About 400 life-size casts will be submerged off the resort of Cancun by the end of 2010. It is hoped that the low-acidity cement figures, designed to be anti-corrosive and mimic rock, will be transformed over time into artificial reefs. Some will be in shallow waters for snorkellers to enjoy.[...]

“The park managers were looking for an alternative to manage the tourists. The idea was to concentrate everyone in one place,” said de Caires Taylor, who has also built an underwater sculpture park in Grenada, West Indies.

The 400 figures, weighing 180 tonnes in total and to be named ‘Silent Evolution’, will be submerged in a barren, flat expanse of the park, which lies between Cancun and nearby islands.
