The V Motion Project

The V Motion Project from Assembly on Vimeo.

This project combines the collective talents of musicians, dancers, programmers, designers and animators to create an amazing visual instrument. Creating music through motion is at the heart of this creation and uses the power of the Kinect to capture movement and translate it into music which is performed live and projected on a huge wall.

Amazing Cross-Continental Collab Between Beatboxer ‘Hikakin’ & Legendary Dancer ‘Non-stop’

By Christopher on June 29, 2012
Since flailing around and screaming at my computer upon discovering dancer Non-stop last year I’ve been itching to post another clip of his wobbly, boneless yet exquisitely controlled movements. And there hasn’t been a shortage. He’s since appeared in numerous commercials, performances, and other clips including this wonderful cross-continental collaboration with beatboxer Hikakin.

Former First Lady Betty Ford Dies At 93

Former first lady Betty Ford has died at the age of 93.

During her life she helped change the way Americans think and talk about breast cancer, women's rights and substance abuse.

But, before she became a first lady, an advocate for women's rights and an inspiration to people struggling with addiction, Betty Ford was a dancer.

The former Elizabeth Anne Bloomer studied and taught dance in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she grew up. She pursued her passion in New York City, where she trained with the legendary Martha Graham, but soon returned home at the bidding of her mother.

Following a brief first marriage, she met a young lawyer named Gerald Ford. They married in October 1948. The next month, he was elected to Congress. A quarter-century later Gerald Ford became vice president and then later replaced the disgraced Richard Nixon as president.

PS22 Chorus "EMPIRE STATE OF MIND Pt. XXII" Jay-Z & Alicia Keys

http://ps22chorus.blogspot.com

The PS22 Chorus delivers big time on this New York anthem by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys! Props to Dominique & Messale for amazing jobs on the lead vocals & rap (respectively). And of course to Ethan for a well-deserved happy dance at the song's conclusion.

We based our version more on the Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind Part II," but as a tribute to Jay-Z version, the kids and I created our own little rap that obviously was a bit more age appropriate. LINK: Youtube

Singing, Dancing Robot

(Video Link)
AIST’s new HRP-4C robot does a fairly good impersonation of human body movements. This 5′2″ fembot was unveiled at the Digital Contents Expo in Tokyo. The only thing that it needs is a steady energy supply.

Plants vs. Zombies Dance Battle

As seen at IGN’s E3 2010 party. Plants vs. Zombies developer and publisher Popcap Games apparently had this octet of flower girls and well-dressed undead dancing off on the show floor as well. Glad I caught it somewhere. The right-to-left tower defense game, in which you plant flowers and produce to defend against a backyard zombie onslaught, went on sale last year for PC and this year for iPhone and iPad.
