The V Motion Project

The V Motion Project from Assembly on Vimeo.

This project combines the collective talents of musicians, dancers, programmers, designers and animators to create an amazing visual instrument. Creating music through motion is at the heart of this creation and uses the power of the Kinect to capture movement and translate it into music which is performed live and projected on a huge wall.

Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ Painting Made from 7,067 Falling Dominoes

Industrious domino artist FlippyCat recreated Vincent van Gough’s famous Starry Night painting using 7,067 dominoes stacked vertically and horizontally to create an impressive chain reaction that seems to sprawl in the same direction as the artist’s brushstrokes. The video above contains some pretty heartbreaking outtakes as well. See also his Domona Lisa from 2007.

Street Artist ‘Megx’ Creates Giant Lego Bridge in Germany

In October of last year street artist Megx converted a bridge in Wuppertal, Germany into a giant Lego structure using colored panels that create the illusion of being the underside of Lego bricks. The bridge itself is part of the Wuppertal Bewegung e.V., an old train line that has been converted to a pedestrian and cycle path. How great is this? There’s been no shortage of giant toys and games in the streets lately. See much more on his website. Photos above courtesy Lukas Power and Rolf Dellenbusch.

Tiny Wire Chairs Made With Champagne Caps and Wires

Usually we throw away the wire, which is attached to the bottle of champagne cork. But as it turned out, it is possible to put it into action, even if futile, but very original. The result obtained are tiny chairs with back and seat originalnyo form in the shape of the lid. By the way, you can create this without leaving the table. LINK

Artistic Whirlwind

Some Neatorama readers will have seen a recent video of an art installation created by placing a group of fans in such a way as to create a vortex of air which causes a red silken fabric to twirl in the air. Here is nature doing the same thing, as a whirlwind in Austria lifts plastic sheeting from a field of strawberries. It’s really quite beautiful. LINK: Neatorama, Via: Youtube

Creating 3D Holographic Videos with Microsoft Kinect

"YouTube user okreylos has managed to get inside a Kinect and extract the bits that allow him to create 3D video captures of what the device sees."

The camera obviously cannot see all the way around the various physical objects in the room, but when okreylos starts spinning the image on its axis, things get pretty cool! Fun starts about 40 seconds in... [YouTube, Oliver Kreylos], Via: Gizmodo

Interpol - Lights directed by Mr. Charlie White

"QUOTE" Disturbingly decadent video for Interpol’s new single, Lights. I’ve always admired this band for its original sound and sense of style, and their willingness to push boundaries translates well to this music video, directed by artist and photographer, Charlie White. Though somewhat abstract, the visuals of Lights are quite arresting and do engage you. It’s nice sometimes to leave the audience with questions and perhaps allow them to create their own story. Amazing Art: Craig Tracey Body Artist

This talented artist uses the human form as his canvas to create some amazing works of art. He recently completed a commission for "Save China's Tigers" using three models to create the head of a tiger: an outstanding piece of work!

"The work had been commissioned for the organisation “Save China’s Tigers” by the founder of the charitable foundation, Li Quan. “I initially wanted to call for volunteer models to come forward and have their body painted into tigers to produce a 2010 calendar along with real tiger images. But upon seeing Craig’s breathtaking work in a local newspaper, I thought this was just the right artist we needed, as Craig is two artists in one – painter and photographer”." LINK, Via: Youtube
