Ciudad Nazca - english documentation video

http://ciudadnazca.net/ "Nazca City" is a land art project, the drawing of a true scale map of an imaginary city onto the surface of the Peruvian desert. To do this we built a robot which moves autonomously, plowing the ground to uncover its underlying color. Because of its scale, the map can only be appreciated as a whole from certain a height by means of airplains or satellite imaging. The project is inspired by the gigantic figures drawn onto the desert by the ancient Nazca culture (200 BC - 600 AD), which can still be seen today. It invites to reflect upon the explosive urbanization of the deserts of the Peruvian coast, taking place since the middle of the last century, and its consequences on environmental sustainability and the quality of living. Fantasmagorie

Fantasmagorie is an 1908 French animated film by Émile Cohl (born Émile Eugène Jean Louis Courtet). It is one of the earliest examples of traditional animation, and considered by film historians to be the first animated cartoon. To make this film, Cohl placed each drawing on an illuminated glass plate and then traced the next drawing-with variations-on top of it until he had some 700 drawings.

In 1908, chalkboard caricaturists were common vaudeville attractions and the characters in the film look as though they've been drawn on a chalkboard, but it's an illusion. By filming black lines on paper and then printing in negative Cohl makes his animations appear to be chalk drawings. LINK: The Presurfer, Via: Youtube

Very Cool Pencil Art

"Andy Buck Pencil Art"
Andy lives here in the UK.

Andy has been drawing since he was 3 and gradually progressed over the years until he reached A Levels at school. It was at this time he was forced into drawing the human form and so the love of drawing portraits came about.

Andy's techniques involve shading with mechanical pencils of varying grade and size, smoothing with a q-tip or cotton wool, and erasing fine lines for hairs etc using either a solid rubber or putty rubber. LINK

Invisibilia - When Photographs and Drawings Collide

This is a really simple idea, but the effect is really interesting. The artist has just taken pictures - some are his personal pictures and some have been found on the Internet - and replaced a real person with a drawing. He also gives a tutorial on how to create your own, if you’re interested.

"Sand Drawings"

A lot of talent and creativity. A must watch. Interesting how they go from one Sand Drawing right into another without ever really clearing the screen totally.
