Functional Exoskeleton for the Disabled

Hayden Allen hasn’t walked in five years, but in this video, he’s able to move around using a new type of exoskeleton called REX:

Called REX, short for “robotic exoskeleton”, the legs weigh 38 kg (84lb) and are individually made for each user.

The first pair is expected to sell for $150,000 (£97,600) the equivalent cost of 20 standard wheelchairs.

The inventors claim that due to the upright and mobile nature of their creation, users will not suffer the burns, scrapes and bladder infections that can come with wheelchair use.

One of the great features of this design, as you can see in the video, is that it’s fairly easy for a wheelchair user to mount the exoskeleton by him/herself.

Edwin Gray's 'Splitting the Positive' Engine And The 'Fascination Car'

One of the pioneers in early application of causal positron energy was inventor Edwin Gray of Van Nuys California. After World War II he had learned to perform what he called 'splitting the positive,' using 'cold electrical energy' as well as the normal positive electrical energy. His first motor was operating by 1961.

The Fascination Car was the brain child of Paul M. Lewis, of the Highway Aircraft Corporation. It was developed with a standard engine, but he wanted to power it with anything that didn't burn gasoline. He was in negotiations with Ed Gray for a while to use the EMA Engine, but that fell through. Neither the engine or the car were ever produced.

Wooden Car Powered By Wood-Burning Boiler

Dutch artist and inventor Joost Conijn refitted his Citroën with wooden panels and installed a wood-burning boiler for propulsion. He then traveled around Eastern Europe, documenting people’s reactions to his odd car.

Inventor Woody Norris TED Talk

This is a great TED Talk with Woody Norris. He is a mainly self taught inventing genius! Near the end of the video he talks about some of the cool military uses for his new directional sound device that are very interesting (and funny). He also discusses some of his ideas that have sold for millions of dollars. His interests vary more than most people, you may remember the AirScooter II Ultralight Helicopter that we featured before, yes that is one of his ideas also!

"Woody’s electronics knowledge is mainly self-taught, consisting of repairing broken radios he begged from the local repair shop on the way home from school. "I had a chicken coop full of 20 or 30 or 50 radios… I fixed most of them." He had a mere six months of basic electronics training in the Air Force, where he worked with radar and electronics used to trigger A and H bombs." LINK

Today is Nikola Tesla's birthday. Nikola Tesla (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was an inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer.

Tesla was an ethnic Serb born in the village of Smiljan, Vojna Krajina, in the territory of today's Croatia.

He was a subject of the Austrian Empire by birth and later became an American citizen. Tesla is often described as an important scientist and inventor of the modern age, a man who 'shed light over the face of Earth.'

Nikola Tesla is best known for many revolutionary contributions in the field of electricity and magnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. LINK
