To be known for his surrealistic paintings and art. His house, which he partly constructed and planned himself, is a most practical and surprisingly well organized villa, placed in a small hill ending at the shore of the Mediterranian Sea. Beatifully situated in a most attractive marine landscape.
Carefully planned rooms and a most inviting garden, overlooking the sea, with a grand swimmingpool. In- and outside with loads of pieces of his art, surralistic as naturalistic. A place well worth to visit - only app. 1 hr. from Figueres. Remember to book in advance as only 8 people is admitted pr. slot.
Along Costa Brava, Spain not far from the French Border and his museum in Figueres you will find Salvador Dali's home at the seashore of Portlligat outside the small Spanish/Catalan town CadaquƩs. LINK: Arbyn's Cloud Mind, Via: Youtube

Prehistoric Landscape in Holland
If you take a short train journey north from Amsterdam you really should choose to sit on your left. A little piece of prehistory is waiting to greet you because when you pass the small town of Almere you will come across something that has not been seen in Europe for thousands of years. The Dutch government have, for the past forty years, been funding a quite extraordinary project. Seeing is believing - visit the link HERE and take a look for yourself. LINK

A Voyeuristic Peek Outside Skywalker Ranch
You should watch this video for two reasons. One, it's gorgeous, filmed on the Canon 5D/7D dSLRs at 1080p. Two, it gives you a peek outside George Lucas' famed workshop, like a more romantic, landscape-focused version of Cribs. [PhilipBloom / Planet5D], LINK, Via: Vimeo

Incredible Natural Arches On Earth
“We humans sometimes seem to think we’ve got it all sown up as the premiere architects on this planet, but Nature is actually well ahead when it comes to constructing wonders of design emerging from the landscape. Take the arch, for example. While it was only a few millennia ago that humankind began to build these impressive structures, Mother Earth has been molding them for millions of years. Get your hiking boots on; we’re taking a trip to find the most amazing of these natural formations the earth has to offer, with points awarded for both size and splendor.” LINK

Electrifying Landscape Photography Captures Our Electric World
We've all seen long exposure photography, allowing you to create shapes with light. But I don't think any of us has seen anything quite like the work of Barry Underwood, a landscape photographer for our connected, electric world.
His landscapes, while painstakingly staged, incorporate man-made light with an almost eerie naturalness. The glowing elements that should jar our eyes as electrical protrusions actually serve to capture nature with a new thesis.
You can see the collection with your own eyes as it's on display from November 21st 2009 - January 9th 2010 at Johansson Projects in Oakland, CA. [Johansson Projects and Barry Underwood, Via: BLDBLOG, Via: Gizmodo]

3D Landscape Photography
Landscape photographs are not simple snapshots, but strive to capture the untamed, pure natural scenery. The beautiful scenery is the subject whether that is wilderness, sea or something in-between. Strong landforms are often captured, using ambient light and varying weather elements although urban landscape imagery is also photographed. 3D style landscapes bend reality to give a dimensional feel to viewers. Landscapes often spark an emotional response and can inspire environmental protection instincts. LINK

Paper Landscape at Les Voutes in Paris
by Guy Sherwin
1975/2006
9mins Colour Silent Super 8
The filmmaker interacts with film projected onto a transparent screen, playing with the illusion of time and space.
Performed at Les Voutes in 2006. Organized by Lightcone Paris.
Paper Landscape plays with the illusory space within the screen by working directly with the material of the screen. A live performance is played off against a filmed record of a past event.
It starts with the projector illuminating a transparent polythene screen. Behind the screen stands the performer/filmmaker who applies white paint to the polythene. As a result the film image is revealed; it shows the same performer slowly tearing up a paper screen of the same size, to reveal a landscape. With the live performer gradually walling himself in behind a layer of white paint, the attention of the audience turns increasingly to the image of landscape projected onto this surface, and to the illusory performer who demonstrates the nature of deep space by running into the distance until he has merged with the landscape. Finally the confines of the cinema space are dramatically reaffirmed as the live performer slices the screen and steps through into the space that the audience occupies. LINK: Youtube
