The 21 Greatest Lego Collectible Minifigures

image credit Lego struck gold when they started releasing collectible minifigures 1978. They have become hugely successful, with over 3.7 billion produced in both limited edition waves and in blind packaging. These figures are highly detailed and imaginative, and include very specific character types, many that wouldn't otherwise fit in standard Lego sets. The selection has been amazing and revolutionized the very concept of the ever-popular Lego minifigure. Here are the 21 best collectible minifigures that Lego has released thus far.

Lego Robotic Arm

Uploaded by sumthinelse5790 on Feb 5, 2012 This is a model prosthetic arm made entirely of Legos. -hand movements and wrist abduction/adduction are Lego pneumatics -wrist pronation/supination, wrist flexion/extension, and elbow flexion/extension are Lego motors (Power Functions) The main purpose of this project was to accurately mimic the full range of motion of a normal human arm and hand. The secondary goal was to maximize speed and power, yet maintain a consistent ratio between the two for demonstration purposes. It is important to note that it was designed as an above elbow prosthesis, and the yellow shoulder is only meant to act as a static model. The amount of weight it can lift is limited to the shape of the object and orientation of the wrist and elbow, but it can't do much with more than a couple pounds. The controller is a rudimentary cluster of switches and joysticks. A 4-motor air compressor with pressure-regulation was made of Legos. LINK: Youtube

Stilzkin Bridge Launcher

The Stilzkin EXT3 Bridge Launcher is used to deploy bridges to cross rivers, small chasms or similar obstructions. Placing the bridge takes less than a minute. Once the span has been put in place, the launcher detaches itself from the bridge, and moves aside to allow traffic to pass. Once all of the vehicles have moved over, it crosses the bridge itself and reattaches to the bridge on the other side. It then retracts the span ready to move off again.

This model, inspired by real-world AVLBs (Armoured vehicle-launched bridge) was built for Lego's Technic challenge. LINK: Youtube

UK Toy Master Builds House From Legos

James May, a toy fanatic from the UK (who has his own TV show), built a real house from Legos.

This two-story Lego palace, which resides in the middle of a vineyard, sports a working bathroom, and is covered inside and out with bricks pieced together by 272 Legos. Over three million bricks were used to build the Lego pad, so doing some quick math here — that's over 816 million Lego pieces! Sheesh. I wonder what they'll do with the Legos once James moves out?
