Mirrored Treehouse Hotel Makes You Invisible in the Forest

This crazy structure is part of the Treehotel, a new hotel in northern Sweden consisting of multiple treehouses all designed my different architects.

That one up there is the Mirrorcube, named thusly because, well, it's a mirrored cube. It allows you to see out from the inside at the forest and animals around it, who won't even know you're there.

Other treehouses include the Cabin, the Blue Cone and the Nest, with the UFO and A Room With a View scheduled to open in October. [Treehotel, Via: BornRich], Via: Gizmodo

Amazing Hotel Made Of 200000 Plastic Keys

If you’ve ever wondered what to do with unwanted hotel key cards, then think no more. Because, providing you’ve somehow amassed 200,000 plastic slips, the solution is simple – use them to build your own guest house. That, at least, is what one hotel chain decided to do. LINK

Holiday Inn’s Key Card Hotel, which opened yesterday in New York, includes a guest bedroom, bathroom and lobby, all fully equipped with life-sized furniture all made out of, yes, well, you get the point.

The 400 sq ft, two-ton construction in Manhattan , which will be in business until September 21, was built by world record-holding ‘card-stacker’ Bryan Berg.

Be sure to check out the rest of the story and see more pictures.

Inside the Spectacular Burj Al Arab, Dubai.

Rising from the Arabian Gulf on an island 919 ft from the shores of Jumeirah beach and the opulent city of Dubai, stands the iconic Burj Al Arab, a masterpiece of contemporary architecture and what claims to be the most luxurious hotel in the world. Designed to resemble the graceful sails of an Arabian vessel, Burj Al Arab is known as the symbolize of Dubai's urban transformation.

Architect Tom Wright said "The client wanted a building that would become an iconic or symbolic statement for Dubai; this is very similar to Sydney with its Opera House, or Paris with the Eiffel Tower. It needed to be a building that would become synonymous with the name of the country."

The hotel cost $650 million to build. It has 202 bedroom suites that range in size from 1,819 sq ft to 8,396 sq ft. It is one of the most expensive hotels in the world costing between $1,000 to $28,000 per night.

The Burj Al Arab is dressed in vibrant colours and lavish materials. Chairs and sofas are upholstered in flame-reds and yellows while white Tuscan columns, spiral staircase covered in marble and wrought-iron gold leaf railing give the hotel a lavish feel. LINK

Hotel Everland

Hotel Everland in Paris, France, is a project by Swiss artist-duo Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann. They are known for their installations that deal with architecture and space and invite the viewer to get involved and become part of the artwork.

Everland is a hotel with only one room including a bathroom, a king-size bed and a lounge. The bounteous dimensioned room represents the subjective dream of a hotel: the architecture, the playful details, as well as the request to steal the golden embroidered bath towels. LINK

"THE SONGJIANG SUSTAINABLE HOTEL IN CHINA"

Near Shanghai, the Songjiang district has become a popular weekend destination for many tourists with its natural beauty and sprawling landscapes. And now the Songjiang Hotel might just become the newest and greenest attraction. While it may look a bit sci-fi, this hotel was designed for the real (green) world, with many sustainable features in mind.
The 400-bed resort will be located in a 100-meter-deep quarry located in the province and will contain restaurants, cafes, sport facilities, and even underwater public areas and guestrooms. Water will play an important part in the design, featured in many areas around the hotel. Waterfalls, underwater aquariums, and green areas will be integrated into the design to match the existing facing of the quarry. LINK
