The worlds most amazing toy... mechanical engineering
This is one example of Uberstix and what one Uberstix part can do. Actually Uberstix are NOT bendable... the parts are rigid... that is why you can build the twin tower at the end and pick it up... if the parts were bendable, the tower would not be stable... and that's pretty cool from an engineering standpoint...
From unsinkable pirate and sail boats to skyscrapers with real blueprints, Uberstix opens up a whole new world and makes anything possible...
8 Uberstix parts will build things that Fly, Float, Sail, and build simple and compound machines and robots
8 Uberstix parts= more than 125,000,000,000,000,000 options. LINK: Youtube

Man Makes Tiny Guns out of Corn Stalks

83-year old Leo Clark makes tiny model guns out of corn stalks. Some of them feature moving parts and can be loaded with tiny cartridges, also made completely out of corn. They’re incredibly detailed, right down to the crosshairs in the scopes. You can watch a local news video about Clark at the link. Note that the news story appears to be at least three years old.

74 MPG for Just $9,000?
![]()
This car is called the T25. Designed by Formula One engineer Gordon Murray, it weighs only 1,200 pounds and can seat three people (although one or two would be more comfortable). It is expected to get 74 miles to the gallon and cost around $9,000, thanks to the highly-efficient iStream manufacturing technology.
The cars are built using an efficient process that first attaches most of the car’s parts to the chassis, and then adds a pre-painted body as a last step, similar to the way Formula One vehicles are built.
Look at the gallery below, and you’ll see that the car is so tiny that three of them can fit into a single parallel parking space. If all cars were this size, we’d live in a utopian energy-saving world.
The T25 should be available in two years, with an all-electric version, the T27, following later. Link, Via: Neatorama

Alien Sculpture from 1,200 Pounds of Motorcycle Steel

Robosteel is a Dublin-based art studio that builds frightening-looking sculptures out of scrap metal. Pictured above is one in the image of the alien queen from the movie Alien, made from 1,200 pounds of Yamaha motorcycle parts. The artists assert that their inspiration is a simple Picasso sculpture:
Picasso’s sculpture of the bicycle saddle and a handlebar was the first example of a work made from everyday things, using junk or scrap. Like other of Picasso’s firsts this work opened up new possibilities for artists. In this instance – sculptors, who for centuries had employed traditional materials such as stone or wood now instead, many of them began to incorporate junk materials into their work (known as assemblages) or fashion new objects from them. The works are a great example of the inventive genius of Picasso and the ultimate inspiration for RoboSteel.

The Car Parts Sculptures of James Corbett

Australian artist James Corbett began sculpting old car parts in 1999 while managing a car recycling business in Brisbane. Eighteen months later, he closed the shop and turned pro. Corbett never bends the parts, but uses the existing shapes to create (comparatively) realistic forms. Gallery at the link.
