Flowlab Skateboard Looks Deadly Fun

You kids and miscellaneous hipsters probably love this one: The Flowlab Skateboard. They were invented in the 90s, and it surprises me that they haven't completely replaced regular ones. It looks a lot more fun.

Unlike most conventional skateboards—which can lean up to 25 degrees—the Flowlab allows you to carve at 45 degrees. That gives them a handling similar to a snowboard, without requiring any snow. [Mike and Mike and wikipedia], Via: Gizmodo

The Skateboard Car
What if the next car you buy will be the only car you ever have to buy again? What if you could sit where ever you wanted when you drove? What if you didn't need a steering wheel? But could navigate using a joystick or a mouse. And what if you never burned a single drop of gas wherever you went, because your car had no engine. LINK, Via: Youtube

World’s Largest Skateboard Ramp
In 2006, professional Bob Burnquist built a skateboard ramp in his backyard. But it’s not just any skate ramp … the $280,000 mega ramp is 8-story tall and longer than a football field! (It has an acrobat’s net to um, save a skateboarder from plunging to certain death)
On a recent sunny afternoon, the ramp’s owner, Bob Burnquist, a renowned 30-year-old professional skateboarder from Brazil, peered over the side to treetops below and said: ”I’m not afraid of falling. I’m afraid I might jump.”
That mind-set helps on the Mega Ramp, where skaters reach speeds of up to 55 miles an hour and soar like stuntmen.
Approximately 360 feet long, the ramp is 75 feet high at its apex.
That is where riders begin their run, speeding down a 180-foot-long roll-in to a ramp that launches them across a 70-foot gap with trapeze netting below. Landing on a 27-foot sloped section, they then boost up to 50 feet above the ground from a 30-foot quarterpipe. A shorter route begins with a 55-foot-tall platform leading to a 50-foot gap, and the 30-foot quarterpipe. LINK, Via: Youtube

Skateboard Flower

Ted Hunter of Roarockit Skateboard Co. made this flower sculpture with skateboards as petals titled "Reach for Light":
It’s a good example of free hand vacuum veneer bending. The flower petal designs are actually printed using photo’s of real tulip petals. The inside is printed griptape (sticky back sandpaper) and the outside is printed styrene. The internal core is Canadian maple veneer. The shape of the decks are our Roarockit classic pintail skateboard shape that is included in our longboard deck kits.
