“A gigantic version of Damian Hirst’s skull is nestled in the sand. An oversized baby – its modesty carefully covered by officials – is wide-eyed and lost. And an enormous pair of eyes stare out at onlookers from a cliff face. Sculpture by the Sea’ has returned to Sydney’s Bondi Beach. The festival, now in its thirteenth year, comprises Australia’s largest annual outdoor public display of art. Up to half a million people are expected to walk the two kilometres of Sydney’s iconic beaches to gawp at the open-air exhibition.” LINK, Via: Mailonline

Young driver goes through the roof as flying car takes off
Two young Sydney men have done their best impersonation of the Dukes of Hazzard following a high-speed accident, launching their car 15 metres into the air and somersaulting into a Sydney home's roof.
The men, 21 and 25, were driving north on Sunnyholt Drive about 2am yesterday when they lost control and careered off the road. Smashing through traffic lights, a signal box and a telegraph pole, the late-model Holden Commodore sped across a grassed area and up a dirt mound, launching into the air.
Police were initially unable to find the car that caused the damage. Then they looked up.
''[We] finally located the vehicle inside the roof of a house,'' Inspector Adrian Grech from Blacktown police said.
No one was seriously injured, including the family of three asleep inside, but police found debris, including a tyre and a steel pole from the road scattered 100 metres from the crash.
Yesterday the 21-year-old from Beaumont Hills had been released from hospital and was being interviewed by police. The 25-year-old was in a stable condition in hospital. LINK, Via: Youtube

Female athlete sets new shot put record at age 100
The oldest female athlete at the World Masters Games in Sydney has broken a world record in the shot put -- at the age of 100.
All eyes were on Ruth Frith, from Brisbane, as she arrived for day two of the World Masters Games, hoping to win gold in the shot put and feeling pretty confident as she was the only competitor in the over-100s category.
But her 4.07 metre (13 ft 4.2 in) throw on Sunday didn't just win her gold, but also broke a world record.
"As long as I didn't foul I was going to win it," Frith told Reuters Television.
The great-grandmother is also a keen hammer and javelin thrower and believes other pensioners should follow her example.
Frith trains five days a week, regularly lifting 35 kg (77 lb) weights. She doesn't drink or smoke and she doesn't eat vegetables either, claiming she hasn't liked them since she was young. LINK
