Salvador Dali - his home in Portlligat
To be known for his surrealistic paintings and art. His house, which he partly constructed and planned himself, is a most practical and surprisingly well organized villa, placed in a small hill ending at the shore of the Mediterranian Sea. Beatifully situated in a most attractive marine landscape.
Carefully planned rooms and a most inviting garden, overlooking the sea, with a grand swimmingpool. In- and outside with loads of pieces of his art, surralistic as naturalistic. A place well worth to visit - only app. 1 hr. from Figueres. Remember to book in advance as only 8 people is admitted pr. slot.
Along Costa Brava, Spain not far from the French Border and his museum in Figueres you will find Salvador Dali's home at the seashore of Portlligat outside the small Spanish/Catalan town Cadaqués. LINK: Arbyn's Cloud Mind, Via: Youtube

Billionaire Builds $194k Playhouse For His Kids
“A billionaire has treated his two children to the ultimate Christmas present – a $194,000 playhouse which costs as much as a three-bedroom home. The two-storey timber ‘home’ is a replica of the family’s chalet in the foothills of the Swiss Alps, having been built in Britain. It cost $194,000 and 2,000 man-hours to build, while a further $38,000 to $64,000 was spent on transport and installation – making it the world’s most expensive playhouse. The building – by Norfolk-based company Flights Of Fantasy – comes with double glazing, solid pine flooring and bespoke carved Swiss eaves, while lighting is provided by more than 400 decorative bulbs. The living room has a stone chimney, illuminated by led lights, and is packed with bespoke furniture and TV equipment.” w/ photos. LINK

Man Needed House in Expensive Bsijing, So He Built One
Daihai Fei graduated from college six months ago and needed a place to live in Beijing. But the rental properties available were so expensive that he decided to build his own house. It’s shaped like an egg and made from burlap bags, bamboo, insulation, and paint. Fei built a solar panel into the roof. The total cost was 6400 yuan or $960 USD. You can view several more pictures at the link, which appears to be in Italian.

World’s Most Expensive House Built
“India’s richest man, and Forbes’s fourth richest man, Mukesh Ambani, has built the world’s most expensive house in Mumbai. It is estimated to be worth $1 billion. The lavish building– named Antilia, after the mythical island– has 27 stories, is 567-feet high and has 37,000 square meters of floor space — more than the Palace of Versailles. It contains a health club with a gym and dance studio, at least one swimming pool, a ballroom, guestrooms, a variety of lounges and a 50-seater cinema. There are three helicopter pads on the roof and a car park for 160 vehicles on the ground floors. It’s obviously quite a job keeping all this running smoothly, so the house, if you can call it that, also boasts a staff of 600. And all this for just Ambani, his wife and their three children to enjoy.” LINK

Bottlehouse
An introduction of The Bottle House. It is more as a Chiesa. Some of the bottles are filled with various "non freezable" concoctions to add refractions of color to other bottles. When the wind blows the bottlehouse makes music. LINK: Youtube

THE PALLET HOUSE
“The Palettenpavillon by Matthias Loebermann is a structure made entirely from shipping pallets, ground anchors, and tie rods. Designed to be easily assembled and dismantled, and then entirely recycled at a later date, the resulting building is intended as a temporary meeting place. As the architect writes, the shipping pallets are ‘characterized by a complex geometry of open and closed surface portions,’ with the effect that a staggered stacking of each unit produces ‘interesting netlike structures.’ They add that the deceptively curvilinear form becomes a cave.” LINK

Brentwood house where Marilyn Monroe died goes on sale for $3.6 million
Here is an ultimate chance for the affluent Marilyn Monroe fans to get lucky and prove their love and loyalty for the Hollywood icon. Marilyn Monroe’s Spanish colonial-style Los Angeles home, where she died in 1962, is up for grabs for a whopping $3.6 million. Celebrated sex symbol Marilyn Monroe bought this home in 1962 for $90,000 and after six months on, she was found dead, lying naked in her bed with an empty bottle of Nembutal sleeping pills by her side. Located in the swanky Brentwood neighborhood near Beverly Hills, the Spanish colonial revival house spreads over 23,000sq ft of land, and is called the “crown jewel” of the neighborhood. There are four bedrooms, three bathrooms and an outdoor swimming pool.
The luxury home is located behind tall gates on a cul-de-sac and is close to San Vicente shops and restaurants and the Sunday Farmer’s Market. Marilyn Monroe memorabilia always asks for huge bucks and her formerly owned home, listed through David Offer, is no exception with an asking price of $3,595,000. LINK, Via: Boingboing
