Belarusian Builds Impressive Car Part Bison Sculpture
Roman Beybutyan, a young car enthusiast from the Grodno region of Belarus has built an impressive bison sculpture exclusively out of car parts.
Using shock absorbers, springs, steering rods, clutches, chains and various parts from soviet era cars like UAZ, Moskvich and Lada, Roman and his father managed to create a life-size metal bison, in three months. Roman and his father got all the parts they needed from their neighbors’ garages and from the local scrapyard, and welded them together using a photo for reference. Although the young boy, whose family arrived to Belarus from Armenia, has never seen a real bison, he did a fine job recreating one from metal parts.
Beybutyan, who now plans to start work on car part sculptures of a horse and foal, dreams of having his metal bison placed on display in his country’s Białowieża Forest, known as a sanctuary for the mighty European Bison. He is confident it would draw a large number of tourists to this natural paradise. LINK

Chrome-plated Universe
Recently astronomers used the Suzaku orbiting X-ray observatory, operated jointly by NASA and the Japanese space agency, to discover the largest known reservoir of rare metals in the universe. Suzaku detected the elements chromium and manganese while observing the central region of the Perseus galaxy cluster. The metallic atoms are part of the hot gas, or "intergalactic medium," that lies between galaxies.

Exploding stars, or supernovas, forge the heavy elements. The supernovas also create vast outflows, called superwinds. These galactic gusts transport heavy elements into the intergalactic void.

This Metal Man Bends in Ways We Can't
Meet Artform No. 1. It took him six years to grow from a heap of brass and stainless steel into this ooh-la-la-hey-there-gorgeous model you see now and he's damn proud of it. Just look at this cheeky metal man's poses.
The Artform No. 1 figurine was built by Mark Ho out of over 500 parts and the 17-inch, 16-pound fellow is fully articulated, which means that he can be posed in any of the shapes the human form can take and then some:
Only 25 of these sculptures have been made and, while their prices aren't listed, I can't help but want one to lounge on my desk, giving me those sultry bedroom eyes as I write silly posts. [Zoho Artforms, Via: Automata/Autamaton, Via: Make, Via: Gizmodo
