A Touch of Nature
Decorative Mango Wood Accents, $36 for a set of three
Hand carved from mango wood, these decorative wood balls come as a set of three. The mango wood used is sustainable, and mango trees are initially grown for their fruit, but once the trees reach a certain size and age, they stop bearing fruit. It is then that the trees can be cut down and used to create wood products. The removal of the old trees makes space for farmers to plant new mango trees. Eden Home Organic says that this not only means that none of the wood is wasted but it offers a supplementary income to mango wood farmers. LINK

Stages of a Multi-Dimensional Woodcarving, by Scott McNeill
"QUOTE" This sculpture started as the question, "Would it be possible to express a perspective that could see everything, everywhere at the same time?"
First, I would need to carve an ordinary environment of distinct linear perceptions. I.E.-'this is what he sees, that is what she sees, etc.' In this sculpture, each carved section represents what one of the characters from another section sees (example: the rhino, a guy viewing artwork and the corner of a woman's face is what the man, in the upper left section sees; the rhinoceros sticking his head through the window (lower right) sees the lion and the same guy viewing artwork but from a different angle , and so on). Wood eye blink art
In a peaceful forest, a tree falls. Nobody sees it, is it beautiful? If that tree is found, can it be glorious? Or is glory found within the painting upon the wood? Wood Eye blink art? Art is in the eye of the beholder, but it can be shown on many different canvases. A canvas of wood can give more options to enhance the art. It gives it body along with beauty, shape to augment the painting, and function to the fashion. It is no longer just a painting on the wall, but a living piece of art.
On first blink, it's a hunk of wood; dead in the forest, laying there, with no purpose.
On second blink, the wood has a shape. Smooth and contemporary, a new canvas.
On third blink, it is ART! LINK: Youtube

Hair ice
No, that's not a hairy branch but rather an astounding kind of ice formation called "hair ice" ("haareis" in German). Illinois State University professor James Carter of the Geography-Geology Department, created a page about this natural wonder that includes many photos of these marvelous ice growths, sometimes called "silk frost" or "cotton candy frost."The photo above is by Rick Eppler of Vancouver Island, Canada. From Carter's "Ice Formations on Dead Wood" page:
While the term frost is used frequently as part of such names, these ice formations are not a product of frost. Frost comes about by moisture from the air being deposited on surfaces. As such frost is quite amorphous and would never appear as fine needles like we see here. Hair Ice is ice that grows outward from the surface of the wood, as super-cooled water emerges from the wood, freezes and adds to the hairs from the base.
