ATV skims 400 feet at Sand Hill ATV in Wiggins, MS.

Raptor 700R 400 skims feet with ease! Water is about 15-20' deep. It's able to do this because it has paddle tires on the rear, additionally it's running low pressure in the stock fronts. No paddle tires in the back and high pressure in the front = bad things. LINK: Youtube

LEGO Volkswagen Camper

This 1962 Volkswagen Camper Van is made entirely out of LEGOs. It includes features such as the 'V' shape three-way color split at the front, rounded roof and window frames, opening 'splittie' safari front window, opening doors, and of course, the instantly recognizable pop-up roof.

It even embraces its counterculture roots with an interior lava lamp and a T-shirt in the window that says 'Make LEGO models, not war.' LINK: Presurfer

Fordson Snow Devil

(YouTube link)

This snow vehicle is an example of a screw-propelled vehicle.

In the 1920s the Armstead Snow Motor was developed. When this was used to convert a Fordson tractor into a screw-propelled vehicle with a single pair of cylinders, the combination became known as the Fordson Snow Devil. A film was made to show the capabilities of the vehicle as well as a Chevrolet car fitted with an Armstead Snow Motor.[6] The film clearly shows that the vehicle copes well in snow. Steering was effected by having each cylinder receive power from a separate clutch which, depending on the position of the steering gear, engages and disengages; this results in a vehicle that is relatively maneuverable. The promotional film shows the Armstead snow motor hauling 20 tons of logs.

Homebuilt 8-Wheeled Sports Car

We’re not ones to suggest there’s such a thing as too much when it comes to homebuilding vehicles. But an eight-wheel ‘sports’ car with dual Mazda rotary engines, Jaguar differentials and a rat’s nest of unfinished business? Someone cry uncle. This is a car that is hard to describe. It is design to be a sports car with 8 wheels. The body is custom made of fiberglass. The frame is steel tubing. There is no interior in it. The detentions are 204in long x 81in wide x 40in tall.” w/ photos. LINK

The BamTrike

“BamTrike is a three-wheeler that goes with the fancy tag of being a Personal Mobility Vehicle. Besides sporting a really unique form, the most intriguing part of this concept is the usage of Bamboo as a building material. The choice stems from the fact that structurally, bamboo compares to fiberglass, in woven form. The rider of the vehicle gets to sit in a comfy reclined position and the side storage pockets are sufficient to carry your personals. As a recreational vehicle, it really looks neat!” LINK

High Concept; The Verdandi.

The Verdandi project started at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, intended to investigate why fewer women than men ride motorcycles, and what can be done to attract female users and customers to the motorcycle market. The majority of motorcycle models are poorly adjusted to women, and those which are not commonly lack the easy rider attitude that is often sought after by women as well as men. The concept was intended to change this trend, in designing a vehicle that is practical and conscious without compromising its modern biker expression. The result was a full-scale model, displaying novel design qualities and conceptual solutions within areas that women particularly emphasized in the studies; namely safety, low environmental impact, comfort and ergonomics, storage and identity. Robot Converts from Wheeled to Tracked Vehicle

The Galileo Robot has retractable wheels within its rear wheels that extend on command, expanding the hub of the wheel into a tank track. This allows the vehicle to have the advantages of a tracked vehicle when off-road, but the advantages of a wheeled vehicle when on a smooth surface. One application that the developer, Galileo Mobility Instruments, has already developed is a wheelchair that allows users to climb and descend stairs.

The GPS Beatmap

“In 2006, Face Removal Services created the Beatmap, a GPS-based music instrument that transforms the face of the planet into an enormous DJ booth. Looping musical phrases are represented on a map as overlapping circular territories. As the vehicle approaches the center of a circle, the volume increases. In areas of the map where territories overlap the vehicle generates dynamic mixes of the overlapping musical phrases. By exploring a very large map of many overlapping territories the Beatmap creates complex, dynamic mash-ups. The map can be explored on foot, by plane, boat, train, or automobile. In this footage the map is explored by car on the Bonneville Salt Flats, allowing the user to freely accelerate, swerve, and slam to a stop for optimum musical control of the instrument.” LINK

Aquaduct mobile filtration vehicle

The Aquaduct is pedal powered vehicle that transports, filters, and stores water for the developing world. A peristaltic pump attached to the pedal crank draws water from a large tank, through a filter, to a smaller clean tank. The clean tank is removable and closed for contamination-free home storage and use. A clutch engages and disengages the drive belt from the pedal crank, enabling the rider to filter the water while traveling or while stationary.
The Aquaduct is the winning entry in the Innovate or Die contest put on by Google and Specialized. The contest challenge was to build a pedal powered machine that has environmental impact. LINK, Via: Youtube
